Yellowfly
Erich Glaubitz
Strange revelation
lyrics by E. Glaubitz
Rising from the water
Dressed in lemon yellowfly
An angel’s apparition
That slowly comes to life
I drink in her reflection
Sipping her every line
Her body sings electric
I don’t dare blink an eye
She’s like a strange revelation
That plays inside my head
Such a strange revelation
A living dream awaken from the dead
Walking from her rainbow
Staring with her Saturn eyes
Lighting up my sunset
Feel my body start to rise
I reach out to touch her
She flashes me a knowing smile
Wraps herself around me
And swallows me inside
She’s like a strange revelation
That plays inside my head
Such a strange revelation
A living dream awaken from the dead
She’s everything I want or would ever need
How long has she been right here next to me?
Filter my distortion
Taste the sweet memory
I’ve been so out of focus
But she lifts the veil for me
She’s like a strange revelation
A vision to the blind
Such a strange revelation
Suddenly exposed inside
She’s like a strange revelation
Just playing with my head
Such a strange revelation
You've thrown it all away
lyrics by E. Glaubitz
Arolosé, arolosé
Arolosé, ay ya
Last I heard from you
You said everything is beautiful
It’s beautiful, don’t be concerned
Now I hear the news
You’re living in an alley
All alone with a needle and a spoon
Arolosé, arolosé
Arolosé, ay ya
I look in your baby’s eyes
I see everything that’s beautiful
The beautiful that once was in you
You paint feathers on your arm
To cover up the tracks
But the wings can’t hide the truth
You’ve thrown it all away
Thrown it all away
Arolosé, arolosé
Arolosé, ay ya
The violets in the rain
You thought they were so beautiful
But beautiful was just a disguise
And that angel in your voice
Now only screams in vain
As the pain flows on inside
You’ve thrown it all away
Thrown it all away
Remember when you begged for just another chance
That you’d rather die before you break those promises
But those promises lay shattered on the littered floor
No use in lying anymore
You’ve thrown it all away
Thrown it all away
You’ve thrown it all away
Thrown it all away
It feels so damn good to cry
lyrics by E. Glaubitz
I see your face so clearly
It seems so natural that you’re alive
You place your hand in my hand
Unleash a longing I’ve kept inside
But, the moment is way too fleeting
I wake up alone in the night
In the present time
I can’t fight it
The tears rain down from me
But it feels so damn good to cry about you
It feels so damn good to tell you that I loved you
It feels so damn good to finally let it come out
It feels so damn nice
It feels so damn right
It feels so damn good to cry
We were so very different
And yet so very much the same
We hid away emotions
Especially those that dealt with pain
But it doesn’t go away
I always knew, Dad
You loved me in your own way
It feels so damn good to cry about you
It feels so damn good to tell you that I loved you
It feels so damn good to finally let it come out
It feels so damn nice
It feels so damn right
It feels so damn good to cry
For what it's worth
lyrics by S. Stills
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going downa
Plastic babies
lyrics by E. Glaubitz
Watching as plastic babies are rising
Cloned from the mold they are multiplying
Choking the waves that we had been surfing
No room for truth in this world of mannequins
Ticking hands have wasted me from history
Now I am, I am a lonely crusader
I am, I am no bad imitator
I am, I am no plastic baby
I am, I am not trying for glory
I am, I am just telling my story
I am, I am no plastic baby
I climb a wall that grows ever higher
Blistered and bleeding, starting to tire
I scream in a voice that calls from within
As the empire cracks, who will be listening?
This game has played me many years
But now no longer
I am, I am a lonely crusader
I am, I am no bad imitator
I am, I am no plastic baby
I am, I am not trying for glory
I am, I am just telling my story
I am, I am no plastic baby
No plastic baby, no plastic baby
Corporation penetration
Expose the root of my frustration
As dreams do fade, it liberates me
And sets me free
I am, I am a lonely crusader
I am, I am no bad imitator
I am, I am no plastic baby
I am, I am not trying for glory
I am, I am just telling my story
I am, I am no plastic baby
No plastic baby, no plastic baby
Fall into you
lyrics by E. Glaubitz
The sight of you takes my breath away
It seems such a shame we have nothing to say
But does that really matter?
Talking is overrated
I don’t know why we can’t be friends
Surely we’ve got one thing in common
With a little imagination
We could find something to do
With a little bit of lovin’
We could burn an hour or two
Just me n’ you
Hey yo, hey yo, I wanna jump inside
Hey yo, hey yo, take a little ride
Hey yo, hey yo, I wanna fall into you
I wanna fall into you, I wanna fall into you
I can see on your face you think I’m crazy
You could do so much better than a loser like me
But you find it intriguing
As I send my song your way
How ‘bout a little heaven
To add to the end of your day
Slip in that sandbox and play
Hey yo, hey yo, I wanna jump inside
Hey yo, hey yo, take a little ride
Hey yo, hey yo, I wanna fall into you
I wanna fall into you, I wanna fall into you
Try a little bit of lovin’
Taste a little bit of heaven too
Give in to temptation
Could it really be so bad for you?
It’s what people do
Hey yo, hey yo, I wanna jump inside
Hey yo, hey yo, take a little ride
Hey yo, hey yo, I wanna fall into you
I wanna fall into you, I wanna fall into you
Taken by the view
lyrics by E. Glaubitz
I’ve stood up upon a snowcapped mountain
Scanned the horizon from the sky
I’ve been to the falls of Niagara
Gazed it’s panorama in the mist
But nothing compare to what I see
Such perfect geography
Like a little bit of heaven has flashed before my eyes
Like a blind man with a remedy
And though I have seen it countless times
I’m taken by the view of you
So taken by the view
I’ve witnessed Aurora Borealis
Traveled all through Paris on the Seine
I have seen sunsets on the ocean
The skyline from the Hudson light the night
But nothing compares with what I behold
This beauty lifts my soul
Like a little bit of heaven has flashed before my eyes
Like a blind man with a remedy
And though I have seen it countless times
I’m taken by the view of you
If I could only see in black and white
And only one dimension to my sight
Girl, You would be the color
You would be the depth
That brings it all to life
Nothing compare to what I see
Such perfect geography
Like a little bit of heaven has flashed before my eyes
Like a blind man with a remedy
And though I have seen it countless times
I’m taken by the view of you
So taken by the view
Let go
lyrics by E. Glaubitz
Oh, this dream, this wicked dream
Obsessing and caressing me
It rushes all through my viens again
That little child holding on
Who drew those pictures of a star
But the paper has begun to turn to brown
I climb this mountain
See my world around me
Surround me
But it’s all beyond my reach
I have to let go
I have to let go
Oh, your eyes, your patient eyes
So beautiful, so full of life
You’re everything that I should ever need
You are my love, you are my heart
But still I’m being torn apart
By the giant that yearns to be me
I hold on tightly
Lean my body forward
Outward
Though my hands are trembling now
I have to let go
I have to let go
...of the past
Cause the future is the lives that we will have
And I know your arms will catch me when I fall
Fall, fall
With clouds below me
I feel like I’m floating
Flying
I'm oh, so fearless now
I have to let go
I have to let go
Return to zero
lyrics by E. Glaubitz
I watch the children play together
Happily with no preconceptions
But in time they’ll be taught to hate
By generations that have passed before them, what then
It becomes part of who they are
Is it all they will ever be?
It becomes part of who they are
The only hope we have is to return to zero and start again
What a peaceful world this would be
If suddenly we all got amnesia
And among swing sets and monkey bars
We would meet again and play with one another, like brothers
It would become part of who we are
And perchance all we’ll ever be
And become part of who we are
But the only hope we have is to return to zero and start again
Hey, we’ve got to find an answer
Or we’ll spiral ever faster towards destruction
But hey, how do we get beyond it
When we’ve been nursed upon the poisons of our history
There’s the mystery
We have find a way
To start again, to start again
Hey, now brothers, find a way to return to zero
Hey, now sisters, find a way to return to zero now
Let’s do away with anything and any memory
That gives us any reason on Earth to hate
Whether it’s possessions, or religion
Nothing to segregate or separate
Hey, now fathers, find a way to return to zero
Hey, now mothers, find a way to return to zero
(Our god will be each other and each other will be our god)
Hey, now children, find a way to return to zero
Hey, now children, find a way to return to zero now
It will become part of who we are
And perchance all we’ll ever be
And become part of who we are
But the only hope we have is to return to zero
Return to zero, return to zero and start again
Fly away (hey, now now)
lyrics by E. Glaubitz
In the dirt a tiny seed
Growing from a rain of tears
That’s where I found you
Just a hint of what could be
A little whisper in the breeze
Just waiting to be heard
Overlooked and overcome
Like everything and everyone
There is a statue in the stone
Yearning to be free
Hey, now now
Can you stand upon the world, now now
Can you break the cage that you have built, now now
It’s time for you to spread your wings, now now
And fly away
Digging deep into the pain
In the depth of your refrain
It’s your salvation
Ain’t it strange how tragedy
Can bear the fruit of fantasy
And imagination
So many lessons I’ve taught you
But I’ve also learned a thing or two
You’re a portrait that has come alive
To be the painter
Hey, now now
Can you stand upon the world, now now
Can you break the cage that you have built, now now
It’s time for you to spread your wings, now now
And fly away
In all those years of struggling
You never thought of giving in
And as you prove what I’ve always known
It’s your time, embrace this moment
Hey, now now
You can stand upon the world, now now
You can break the cage that you have built, now now
It’s time for you to spread your wings, now now
Hey, now now
You can walk upon the water now
I’ll watch you like a proud brother, now now
It’s time for you to spread your wings, now now
And fly away, fly away
Get a wave
lyrics by E. Glaubitz
Break on through the wall to another world
Slip outside your head, let your mind unfurl
Just escape the traps of a modern life
Run into the arms of a time gone by
A time gone by
Get a wave, get a wave, won’t you get a ride
Stick the slide, clear your mind, trip the overdrive
Get a wave, get a wave, won’t you get a ride
You are, you are the answer
Get a wave, get a wave, won’t you get a ride
Lift your soul, fill a hole, find a deeper high
Get a wave, get a wave, won’t you get a ride
You are, you are the answer
You are, you are
Filling up your eyes with the painted sky
Erase the data bank and just simplify
Rushing through the spray to the curl inside
Walking on the water, feeling alive
So alive
Get a wave, get a wave, won’t you get a ride
Stick the slide, clear your mind, trip the overdrive
Get a wave, get a wave, won’t you get a ride
You are, you are the answer
Get a wave, get a wave, won’t you get a ride
Lift your soul, fill a hole, find a deeper high
Get a wave, get a wave, won’t you get a ride
You are, you are the answer
You are, you are
You were stuck in the motion
Of a motionless daze
Pushed out from the blanket
To find your way
Uninvited guest
lyrics by E. Glaubitz
You take me down, you take me over
You’re like an uninvited guest
You linger here underground
Where you’re shackled and bound
And you never make a sound
Until you’re found
But I won’t let you win
The dark that lines within
No, I won’t let you win
Let you in
You’ve been there since I remember
I do my best to keep you out
But in my roller coaster high
That lifts me to the sky
I reach the other side
Then start to slide
But I won’t let you win
The dark that lines within
No, I won’t let you win
The fight beneath my skin
No, I won’t let you win
Let you in
THE STORY BEHIND THE SONGS
Strange Revelation
Me and Pat we’re trading ideas back and forth when I came up with the groove to this one. I ripped off Kravitz and the Beatles, but, hey, they can rip me off anytime. Lyrically: I’m always so busy with a million things on my plate, I have a tendency to overlook the great things in my life--namely my girlfriend, Melony. I want so much, yet everything I really want, I already have... Such a strange revelation.
You’ve thrown it all away
This was a spontaneous jam at a rehearsal with me, Mike and Pat. Pat came up with that great bass line and within five minutes we had a song. The lyrics have to do with a good friend who’s been battling heroin his whole adult life. He has been blessed with an amazing voice, great looks and two beautiful children... But he threw it all away. In the time since I wrote the lyrics to this song he has gotten clean. Let’s hope it sticks this time around.
It feels so damn good to cry
I often dream about my father (who passed away over ten years ago). He is always alive and well. After one such dream, I broke down and cried, which is something I rarely do. I was so moved, I wrote a song about it. Nothing like opening up all my wounds for everyone to see. This one is my favorite on the CD.
For what it’s worth
Well, you’ll have to ask Stephen about this one.
Plastic babies
The music industry has hit an all time low. If a band or singer doesn’t fit the exact mold of what is already being forced upon the public, they won’t sign them. With rare exceptions, creativity and originality are a non-factor. If this keeps up there can never be a band like Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd (or anyone else who broke the rules) in the mainstream. The internet is our only hope. (Support the independent musicians by buying, not stealing their music.)
Fall into you
I always wanted to write a reggae song. The Ay-yo part happened spontaneously during one of our gigs at the end of Jimmy had a nickel. The lyrics are about a rocker trying to pick up from the stage a stuck up hottie who is definitely out of his league. Did I ever do that? Nah!!!
Taken by the view
I wrote this for my girlfriend. Even after all these years I’m still amazed how breathtakingly beautiful she is. By the way, I never did witness Aurora Borealis, so...
Let go
My frustration with the state of the music industry (see Plastic Babies and the warning on the back of the CD) coupled with my desire to start a family has convinced me to let go of my dream of becoming a rock star. It’s quite a liberating experience for me.
Return to zero
The inspiration for this song came when pondering the quagmire in the Middle East (in particular between the Palestinians and the Israeli’s). I realized that there is such a history of hate going back hundreds and hundreds of years that the only solution would be to just start again. A do-over. But it really doesn’t stop there. As children, many of us are taught to hate or distrust people of certain colors, classes or religions. Maybe we all need a do-over. P.S. After reading back the lyrics, I realized I sounded a bit Marxist. Don’t worry, I’m not a Commie, Pinko, Hippie. It’s just a song.
Fly away (hey now, now)
I wrote this for one of my prodigies, Raquel. Last summer she was on the verge of a record deal, and I was so proud. Alas, she didn’t get the deal. I guess she was too unique and creative.
Get a wave
I wrote this upon returning from a mind altering trip to Costa Rica. All I did for two weeks was surf, drink and laugh. Not bad for an obsessive, workaholic.
Uninvited guest
Ah, manic depression... It has it’s ups and downs.
