Yellowfly lyrics

Sadistic

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

I wanna sell you a little story

About a girl so fine

She's sultry, seductive

With addicting lines

But that's surface, 'cause dark embers

Glow deep inside

But she lures me with her sweet eyes

So what's a boy to do, what's a boy to do

What's a boy to do?

When she only smiles if I'm feeling down

She only laughs if I hit the ground

Seems her only joy is to watch me suffering

She says, "It's just one of those things"

Well it pains me to think that I love this

Sadistic little bitch

Sadistic little bitch

I'm a wise one, I know better

I should run away

But as she tongues me, her poison

Seeps into my veins

She traps me, her legs wrap me

I try to escape

Then I look in those sweet eyes

Oh, what's a boy to do, what's a boy to do

What's a boy to do

When she only smiles if I'm feeling down

She only laughs if I hit the ground

Seems her only joy is to watch me suffering

She says, "It's just one of those things"

Well it pains me to think that I love this

Sadistic little bitch

Sadistic little bitch

To hear about her you may think that I have lost my mind

But trust me boys if you were in my place you'd do the time

She only smiles when I'm feeling down

She only laughs if I hit the ground

Seems her only joy is to watch me suffering

She says, "It's just one of those things"

Well it pains me to think that I love this

Sadistic little bitch

I will be damned

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

Watching in waiting

I follow with my eyes

The innocent stranger as she nears

My smile deceives her

It draws her in closer

My soft, sweet words dispel her fears

There's something inside me

Like a devil in my skin

I will be damned, I will

I try to fight this desire

But there's no use saving me

I will be damned, I will

My hand upon her face

I feel her lips breathing

I draw my mouth near to taste her flesh

Oh, so alive now

Oh, so precious

But just a souvenir I now possess

There's something inside me

Like a devil in my skin

I will be damned, I will

I try to fight this desire

But there's no use saving me

I will be damned, I will

With my hunger satisfied

I return to my happy home

Where my love sleeps by my side

In her dream world

There's something inside me

Like a devil in my skin

I will be damned, I will

I canít fight this desire

And there's no use saving me

I will be damned, I will

I will be damned

I will be damned

Change

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

I guess you're getting tired of me

Saying, when will I grow up

Take life seriously

Sure, that was so endearing once

So why not now

You've known that I'm a little strange

Since we first met

I am who I am

And I am what I am, yes I am

Don't try to change me

Cause we are who we are

And no matter how straight or how odd

Don't ever to change that

Would you take a lie from me

If I play an ideal man

Would you be happy?

Or would you lose the reason why

You love me?

I don't mind compromise

From time to time

But I am who I am

And I am what I am, yes I am

Don't try to change me

Cause we are who we are

And no matter how straight or how odd

Don't ever to change that

You can drive me crazy

Make me so angry

Still, I think youíre perfect

Donít ever change

Be you always

Iíll be me always

I am who I am

And I am what I am, yes I am

Don't try to change me

Cause we are who we are

And no matter how straight or how odd

Don't ever to change that

Don't try to change me

(I am who I am and I am what I am, yes I am)

Don't ever change you

(You are who you are and are what you are yes you are)

Don't try to change me

(I am who I am and I am what I am, yes I am)

Let's never change

Stranger

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

I watch you dance around with flowers in your hair

And peace signs on your sparkled skin

Everythingís so pretty in your sunny world

But the darkness thatís within

It's your way to escape

Feed it, your fantasy

You run from all that know

As you're giving yourself to a crowd of strangers

Drink in the ecstasy

You want it to be your savior

Lose yourself in a crowd of strangers

At night

You wake up all alone inside an empty room

Your colors have turned black and white

You're not sure where you are or what you may have done

Reality seem surreal

But you know the way to escape

Feed it, your fantasy

You run from all that know

As you're giving yourself to a crowd of strangers

Drink in the ecstasy

You want it to be your savior

Lose yourself in a crowd of strangers

At night

You numb your mind, you spin, you fly

Your skinís alive, you wave goodbye

You live your lie, lose touch, deny

The moment breathes, the moments dies

You crash, you burn, no lesson learned

You scream, you cry, you hide

Feed it, your fantasy

You run from all that know

As you're giving yourself to a crowd of strangers

Drink in the ecstasy

You want it to be your savior

Giving yourself to a crowd of strangers

You've lost yourself in a crowd of strangers

Same old story

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

Maxine has herself her dream man

Two years they have been together

Their love seems so very pure

Her man treats her like an angel

Her man has himself a halo

Who could ask for anything more

They move into a happy home

Her slice of heaven

But she feels the gates closing in

It's the same old story

It's the same old story

It's the some old story

Never happy with what you have

Never happy with what you have

Maxine slips out undercover

She scores herself another lover

Turned on by her little sin

She wants to runaway forever

Start a life with her latest treasure

This time it seems so genuine

But diamond eyes, if given time

They lose their shine

And her lover tosses her away

It's the same old story

It's the same old story

It's the some old story

Never happy with what you have

Never happy with what you have

As I watch from afar from the perch of a star in a jar

I'm feeling so cynical

I'm feeling so cynical

Iíve seen it time after time and again and again and again

It's getting so predictable

Getting so predictable

We've all had what she had and weíve lost what she lost

As we go chasing our rainbows

Chasing our rainbows

It's the same old story

It's the same old story

It's the some old story

Never happy with what you have

Never happy with what you have

Let's be happy with what we have

Wildflower

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

You intice me with your beauty

My how your colors are now in bloom

You've got all the bees a buzzin'

Hypnotized by your sweet purfume

If I promise you my heart

If I promise you my soul

If I promise you my love

If I promise you the world

If I promise you the sky

If I promise you heaven

Oh, my wild flower, won't you open up your pedals to me

Oh, my wild flower, just let me in, let me in

I wanna taste your pollen

Oh, my wild flower, won't you open up your pedals to me

Oh, my wild flower

I'd love to make some honey

With you

With you

You've got me tripping on a heartbeat

You've got me defying gravity

You seem so pleased to just tease me

As you shake for me in the breeze

If I promise you my heart

If I promise you my soul

If I promise you my love

If I promise you pearls

If I promise you gold

If I promise you diamonds

Oh, my wild flower, won't you open up your pedals to me

Oh, my wild flower, just let me in, let me in

I wanna taste your pollen

Oh, my wild flower, wonít you open up your pedals to me

Oh, my wild flower

I'd love to make some honey

With you

With you

Mellow day

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

It's a mellow day, it's a mellow day

It's a mellow day, such a mellow day

Drivin' out east with the car top down

I feel autumn kiss my face

Got my girl by my side

No destination in mind

Just want to get away

It's a mellow day, it's a mellow day

It's a mellow day, such a mellow day

We make a turn down a narrow, bumpy road

Drawn by the lack of a street sign

On a tiny beach, we find a secret hideaway

With no one around for miles

We walk along this postcard

So taken by the view

It's a mellow day, it's a mellow day

It's a mellow day, Such a mellow day

Inspiration in me bears a melody

So I pick up my guitar and play

I write these simple lines, then we sip some wine

She whispers, "ain't life great?"

I close my eyes, hear the water lick the shore

And the sound of birds high above

The sun begins to set

And a breeze bites our skin

But our bodies keep us warm

We indulge in each other

Underneath the moon

It's a mellow day, it's a mellow day

It's a mellow day, Such a mellow day

Jimmy had a nickel

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

Jimmy turned 18 today

He was always a good boy

He wanted to try something that

He'd never done before

So Jimmy bought a nickel

Jimmy bought a nickel

He felt his fingers trembling

As he paid the corner man

The police rolled up silently

And caught him with red hands

Cause Jimmy had a nickel

Jimmy had a nickel

The trial was predictable

How can this poor boy win

When the Judges eyes are painted by

The color of Jimmy's skin

Jimmy had a nickel

Jimmy had a nickel

Jimmy spends his time away

In the corner of his cell

The brothers love their tight young boy

As they welcome him to hell

Jimmy had a nickel

Jimmy had a nickel

Little miss innocent

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

I always will remember

This cold night in November

As she called me on the phone

A strangers accusations

Detailed your relations

Never felt so alone

So I waited, waited

Hour after hour

Till you returned

It's as if you had rehearsed it

How calmly you reversed it

Deflecting all the blame

You act the part supremely

How could I not believe it?

But I wonít play that game

And in-between the talking

Oh, that silent silence

You are revealed

I see it, I see it

I see it in your eyes

I taste it, I taste it

In every word you lie

I feel it, I feel it

As it burns inside

Looks like little miss innocent

Don't practice what she preaches

Never had a reason

To think that you'd deceive me

You were so righteous and shy

All these years I've known you

I guess I never knew you

Who were you all this time?

And in-between the talking

Oh, that silent silence

You are revealed

I see it, I see it

I see it in your eyes

I taste it, I taste it

In every word you lie

I feel it, I feel it

As it burns inside

Looks like little miss innocent

Donít practice what she preaches

Oh, you're sugar sweet

Oh, you're so polite

Oh, you're so complete

Oh, you're pure and white

I see it, I see it

I see it in your eyes

I taste it, I taste it

In every word you lie

I feel it, I feel it

As it burns inside

Looks like little miss innocent

Don't practice what she preaches

My baby blue

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

Oh, my baby, I love her

I dream night and day about her

Oh, my baby, I love her

I dream night and day about her

She's the moon and the sun and the Earth and sky to me

Oh, my baby, I need her

And every day I see her

Oh, my baby, I need her

So every day I see her

I could stare at her every moment of my life

Well, she looks at me with those big blue eyes

And quickly looks away

It's so cute these coy games she likes to play

My, my baby blue

She's the only woman that will ever do

My, my, my baby blue

Oh, I love her, I love her and I donít know what to do

Oh, my baby, she's perfect

She's the idol that I worship

Oh, my baby, she's perfect

She's the idol that I worship

There is nothing I would ever want to change in her

Well, she looks at me with those big blue eyes

And I can tell that she loves me

And the way she skips away from me, I know she's happy

My, my baby blue

She's the only woman that will ever do

My, my, my baby blue

Oh, I love her, I love her and I don't know what to do

Well, she looks at me with those big blue eyes

And screams at the top of her lungs

Oh, it turns me on the way she like to always role play

My, my baby blue

She's the only woman that will ever do

My, my, my baby blue

Oh, I love her, I love her and I don't know what to do

Hero

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

It's been a while since that day

I'll never forget that feeling when I heard your name

Yet somehow I knew it all along

You're gone, you're gone

Got your voice inside my head

All those silly jokes are trying to make me smile

But they cannot fill the void

That's in me, in me

There, under the sun

Sand on your feet

You said it was your heaven

There, by the ocean

Is where I will run

To find you in your heaven

I close my swollen eyes

And your face is there, reassuring me

Damn, you never think of yourself

But don't go, no don't go

There, under the sun

Sand on your feet

You said it was your heaven

There, by the ocean

Is where I will run

To find you in your heaven

I watched as the towers fell

And breathed the bitter taste of hell

And you were there, you were there

More concerned with another's life

You gave one final sacrifice

You're my hero

My hero

I bet you never realized

How you touched so many, oh so many lives

And you'll live in all of us

Always, always

There, under the sun

Sand on your feet

You said it was your heaven

There, by the ocean

Is where we will run

To find you in your heaven

There, under the sun

Sand on my feet

Is where I'll always find you

Holy war

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

Light up the candles

Remember the lives of friends I have lost

I stare out my window

Where I watched the flames devour our innocent

So sickened and angered

By murders committed in the name of God

You declared a holy war on us

Cause freedom is so dangerous

Must be destroyed at any cost

Well, let me get this point across

Fuck your holy war

Fuck your holy war

Fuck your holy war

Taste this freedom

You think you're so pious

But there's a stain upon your white robe

What form of perversion

Would cheer at the slaughter of women and children?

No God would condone this

No matter whose God you pray to

The sky is raining tears of red

For blood that has and will be shed

If morality's indeed your cause

You've broken its most basic law

So, fuck your holy war

Fuck your holy war

Fuck your holy war

Taste this freedom

I still don't understand why you had to take

The lives of friends I loved

Please explain

I know you're not afraid to die

You've been nurtured on a twisted lie

That when all of your killing's done

You will rise beyond the sun

And a little bonus above the blue

All those virgins wait for you

So is this just a case of lust

Is this just a case of lust

I don't know

Do you know?

Fuck your holy war

Fuck your holy war

Fuck your holy war

Taste this freedom

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONGS

Sadistic

I wrote this one a few days before going into the studio to record this CD. Writers tend to always love their last song best, which is how it ended up as track 1, but in retrospect, it's not one of my favorites. Lyrically it's not about anyone in particular, it's just "sadistic little bitch" seemed to fit that great riff. There was one line about my girlfriend in there, who always laughs when people fall down, but it didn't make the final cut.

I will be damned

This is a song about sin. I wanted the listener to not know whether I was talking about a cheating lover or a Hannibal-esque murderer. It is actually about an affair I had, but to reach the double meaning, I had to make it more twisted than it really was. I originally wrote the riff for a band I was producing, Red Karma, but liked it too much to give it away.

Change

I was walking in the front door of my house when the chorus popped into my head. I rushed to pick up a guitar and write a song around it. After releasing this CD, I grew to dislike the bridge of this song, so I rewrote it. We never perform this version live. Lyrically it is about one of my best friends. He is a fun, carefree guy, which is exactly what attracted his girlfriend to him--and eventually what drove them apart (though I wrote this song before the breakup). Oh, and there is a bit of me in the lyric also. Trivia--the girl in the Family Photographs video is the girl in this song.

Stranger

Pat wrote the main chord progression to this one. The opening guitar part is something I wrote for my old band, Liquid in it's waning days. Lyrically it is about a girl I know who at the time was lost in an ecstasy induced haze, living from rave to rave.

Same old story

I originally wrote this a few years back for the singer, Raquel. It was to be three separate stories that came together at the end. It ended up being too long, so I just kept the Maxine story, though it made more sense the other way.

Wildflower

I first wrote this as a medium tempo, groove type thing. Every time we played it at rehearsal, it got faster and faster. Though I still like this song, looking back I think it lost the coolness of the original groove. One the first things I sang when writing this song was the "open up your pedals" line. I built the whole lyric around that line.

Mellow day

I wrote the hook of this song while driving in my car with Pat. Lyrically, it is basically a blow by blow account of a day spent with my girl out near Orient Point.

Little miss innocent

It was not a happy day for me when I found out the girl I was seeing at the time was having an affair. Several years later the disillusionment of that experience led to my affair referred to in "I will be damned." Funny how that happens. We wrote the groove of this song at a rehearsal. The opening riff was from an Extreme Sports Theme I wrote (originally played twice as fast).

Jimmy had a nickel

When I first heard Pat playing that bass line I immediately came up with the verse and chorus of this song, twisting the meaning of the old 1920's song of the same name. Though the lyrics only took me minutes to write, it's one of my favorites on the CD.

Baby blue

I wrote the music to this at the beach as a goof when my friend, Mike Trunkes, jokingly said, "You need a song that sounds like Elvis." We weren't going to put this on the CD, but I really liked how it came out, so, much to Pat's chagrin, it made the final cut. Lyrically, it is a bit deeper that it appears. It is written from the view point of a stalker (me being the stalkie). Myself being the victim of a stalking for years, I'm amazed how a stalker can twist anything you say or do into what they perceive to be real. Read the lyrics again and you'll see where I'm coming from.

Hero

I wrote this a few months after 9/11 for two great men and great friends, Captain William (Billy) Burke, and Dave Fontana. Capt. William F. Burke Jr. had just led people to safety out of Tower Two of the World Trade Center. He told the firefighter with him to leave and then went back into the building to look for more civilians. Seconds later, the tower collapsed. Google their names to get their amazing stories. This song is my favorite on the CD.

Holy war

Holy war is my anger towards 9/11. Hating America enough to kill innocent people is one thing--justifying it through god and religion is another. By the way, when a female suicide bomber dies, does she get male virgins? Musically it started with Pat's intro bass line. I came back a week later with the verse and chorus. The bridge we all wrote together at rehearsal. This was one of the hardest lyrics I ever wrote.
